Thermal cycle degradation of alumina-silica refractories exposed to molten Al-5Mg alloy

چکیده

In this study, degradation by so-called “Obake” , an advanced stage of external corundum growth on alumina-silica refractory surfaces, was investigated. The Obake successfully recreated melting Al-5%Mg in the crucible under thermal cycle conditions. test temperatures were chosen at 1000°C or 1150°C. It confirmed that internal occurred formation spinel (MgAl2O4) where touch with molten Al-5Mg and completely separate location is vicinity melt line surface following reaction would take place.

THE EFFECT OF CRYOLITE NA3ALF6 AND SODIUM FLUORIDE NAF ON THE CORROSION AND WETTING BY MOLTEN AL-SI ALLOY OF ANDALUSITE BASED REFRACTORIES

In order to improve the corrosion resistance of aluminosilicate refractories by molten aluminum, alkaline fluoride NaF and cryolite Na3AlF6 powders were studied. Both physical and chemical properties are known to influence wetting and corrosion behavior. This paper devoted to determine the influence of alkaline fluoride and cryolite added to andalusite based castable on the reaction with a...

THERMAL SHOCK OF REFRACTORIES

Being brittle and having low thermal conductivity, refractories suffer damage and sometimes fail in service as a result of thermal shock. While the approach of those making fine-grained technical ceramics is to make their products sufficiently strong to withstand thermal stresses the refractory technologist is more cunning. He uses, often little known, devices to provide resistance to thermal s...

Thermal and catalytic degradation study of polyethylene and investigation the catalytic effect of X-Zeolite and Silica-Alumina on degradation kinetic

The thermal degradation of polyethylene (PE) was carried out in the absence and presence ofcatalystes X-Zeolite and Silica-Alumina at different temperatures. The optimum PE/Catalysisratio was 0.25:0.05 g/g, which produced highest degradation value. PE and PE/Catalysis werecharacterized by thermogravimetric analysis. The thermal degradation properties of polymerhave been studied by Infrared spec...

Refractory Degradation in Glass tank Melters. A Survey of Testing Methods

The major objective in glass tank melters is to optimize the entire process by reducing the maximum temperature of melting, improving refractory performance and/or improving melter fuel efficiency. The required characteristics of refractories used in melters are: thermal shock resistance, corrosion resistance, controlled expansion behavior, low thermal conductivity, and adequate creep resistanc...
